FESTIVAL director
Thanks to artist and musician Alexis de la Rocha, LALIFF (Los Angeles International Latinx Film Festival) has introduced a new tradition: the promotion and support of the very best diverse, BIPOC, and LGBTQIA+ indie musicians through a new festival element called LALIFF MUSIC. Shortly after taking on the role of Managing Director at LALIFF, she expanded its global reach by incorporating virtual platforms, securing sponsorships, increasing festival attendance, and more. She is a strong advocate for the arts, celebrating all artists and providing them with platforms to showcase their music, while fostering relationships with the festival's filmmakers, students, and attendees.

Like Morrissey and The Smiths? Alexis is responsible for creating and hosting the phenomenon MorrisseyOke at Eastside Luv, located in the heart of Boyle Heights. This karaoke night, which after its inception 8 years ago continues to have a line outside the door, has been featured in L.A. Weekly, NPR, KPCC, and CNN on Anthony Bourdain’s “Part’s Unknown,” to name a few. This magical night brings lovers of the British singer/poet together and is responsible for birthing tribute bands, friendships and even marriages. Come out and “sing your life” every first Thursday of the month at Eastside Luv.

Alexis has served as a Music Director for numerous events, encompassing responsibilities such as curating artists to perform, talent booking, A&R, selecting songs for live-stream events, coordinating walk-ons/walk-offs, voice-of-god duties, hosting, and more. Her diverse clientele includes Amazon, the Dodgers, the LA Clippers, the Imagen Awards, LALIFF (Los Angeles Latinx International Film Festival), NYE at Grand Park, LA LIVE, AltaMed, Plaza de Cultura y Artes, Center Theater Group, Jive Live, and many others. She crafts a dynamic soundscape for each event, featuring a rich mix of artists and celebrating emerging talents, captivating audiences throughout.
