Laliff music FESTIVAL


The 17th LALIFF (Los Angeles International Latinx Film Festival) began a new tradition of promoting and supporting the very best indie musicians for their new element of the festival, LALIFF MUSIC. Artist and musician Alexis de la Rocha, LALIFF Music Creator and Programmer, curates a lineup of several up and coming artists throughout the Latinx community providing a platform of visibility to showcase their music and nurture relationships with the festival’s filmmakers, students and attendees. The 18th LALIFF will take place this summer July 31st through August 4th, 2019.

Alexis has Music Supervised the Imagen Awards Show walk-ons and walk-offs in addition to DJ’ing the Imagen Awards Gala for the past three years. She curates the bombastic soundscape for the gala, keeping the attendees dancing in their seats, by playing a diverse mix of Latinx artists and celebrating the sounds of new upcoming talent.

Like Morrissey and The Smiths? Alexis is responsible for creating and hosting the phenomenon MorrisseyOke at Eastside Luv, located in the heart of Boyle Heights. This karaoke night, which after its inception 8 years ago continues to have a line outside the door, has been featured in L.A. Weekly, NPR, KPCC, and CNN on Anthony Bourdain’s “Part’s Unknown,” to name a few. This magical night brings lovers of the British singer/poet together and is responsible for birthing tribute bands, friendships and even marriages. Come out and “sing your life” every first Thursday of the month at Eastside Luv.
